La Bertheliere
Your holiday gite is just 5 minutes away from the coast with its wide fine sandy beaches. La Bertheliere was originally a typical small french house complete with barn, stable etc. plus a small shop, dating back to about 1823. It has now been converted to form a family home and two very spacious holiday gites. It is located on the west coast of Normandy in the village of St Germain sur Ay, and less than 1 hour's drive from Cherbourg. If you are looking for a holiday rental or simply house hunting (special rates during non-peak season weeks) in the Manche region of Normandy then our gites are the ideal place to stay. If you are interested in Jazz then don't miss the Coutances Jazz Festival - "jazz sous les pommiers". In 2010 it runs from Saturday 8th May until Saturday 15th May. The smaller gite (L'Huître) has sleeping accommodation for 4 (plus cot) in two bedrooms (one double, one twin), and Les Hirondelles, the larger gite, has accommodation for up to 5 persons (plus cot) in three bedrooms (one double bedroom, one twin and a single bedroom). These holiday gites provide an excellent place to take your Normandy based holiday break situated in a small village, and yet be only a short distance from the sea. There is a village shop with bar only a short walk away from your holiday home, and the boucherie/charcuterie is next door to us opposite the library. At the other end of the village, past the churchyard and the old equestrian centre, there are the village ponds. A little further on there is gated access to the marsh and the hikers' trail. |

St Germain sur Ay is approximately 4 miles from the small town of Lessay and 5 miles from the market town of La Haye du Puits. La Bertheliére is well situated for exploring the Manche region (Cherbourg peninsular), the Normandy Landing beaches, Bayeux, Mont St Michel and all areas round about.
